Pine Marten photography hide
Exclusive to Cairngorm Wildlife Photography and Tours.
We now have exclusive access to a fantastic private Pine Marten photography hide for Pine Martens in daylight.
Camera equipment
Lens from 300mm to 500mm, no tripod required as the hide has a bench along the front and has plated gimbal heads and bean bags in the hide.
Clothing
The hide is a short walk from the parking place up a gentle flat sloping field so a pair of boots and a lightweight jacket is all that's required.
Can I photograph anything else at the hide?
There is always something to photograph from the hide while waiting for the Pine Martens. Sparrowhawks have appeared regularly, there is always Red Squirrels jumping around and lots of woodland birds making it constantly busy.
Hide rules
To make the most of this hide it is important you follow the hide rules.
Please use the toilets at Tesco in Keith as there is no toilet facilities at the hide and when you enter the hide it is important that you remain in the hide until the owner comes to collect you.
Do not wear perfume or aftershave, this is very important as the Pine Martens are sensitive to unusual scent.
Strictly no smoking in or around the hide area
This is a quiet hide, please do not talk in the hide other than whispers as the Pine Martens can appear from under the hide and are always very close to it. The hide has a live camera facing the feeding area to monitor the Pine Marten times and behaviour throughout the year without the hide owner having to sit in the hide so please do not leave the hide as it will trigger the camera.
Location
The hide is located outside the town of Keith in Moray, on private property just over a one hour drive from Aviemore.
Meeting place
Tesco car Park Moss St - SATNAV Keith AB55 5HB
Customers will be met near the petrol station in the car park of Tesco in Keith at 1pm and follow in their car to the hide location which is 10 mins from the meeting place. Please use the toilet facilities at Tesco as there is no toilets at the hide, you can also get a snack or drink for the hide while there.
Booking
The cost allows you to stay in the hide for the afternoon and early evening, should for any reason the Pine Martens not appear you will receive a free day at an available date. Please note, this is a very popular hide and it is not always available the following day from your visit.
