Spanish Eagles and Vultures
3 photographers Max
Every year I run 3 trips to the fantastic El Barraco hides in Spain, always in March and September when the weather is cooler and the Eagles are in perfect condition and Male and female are feeding.
It's a special place.
What makes it a special place is the people, from Sylvia and Roberto who run the family hotel to Jose a world-renowned wildlife photographer and Jesus who has been working with the wild eagles on his family's mountain top land for more than 20 yrs.
Every photographer who has been to El Barraco to photograph the Spanish Golden and Imperial Eagles and well as Griffon and Black Vultures with me has been more than once, with some booking every time these trips become available, testament to how well received these trips have been that the reason i have never advertised them until now.
A brief look at the trip
Due to covid travel restrictions i can at present only give a brief overview of the trip.
Please note these trips are only available via email or Phone booking.
The target species on these trips is the Golden and Imperial Eagles, so far, we have never failed to get hundreds if not thousands of images of both, if this is the case, we will use the Griffon and Vulture hides on the last day, it is also quite common to have both species of Vultures visit the Eagles hides at least until the Eagles arrive.
Day 1 is arrival at Madrid airport where we be collected and driven to the hotel in El Barraco which takes approximately one and a half hours.
Day 2 after Breakfast you will be collected at the hotel and driven to the hide door in the mountains by your guide, packed lunch is supplied by the Hotel, at the end of the full day you will be collected from the hide door and returned to the Hotel, later we will go into the village for dinner, being a small very rural Spanish village there is not a huge selection of places to eat, but if your like authentic tapas you won't be disappointed.
Day 3 and 4 is again full hide day in the Mountains, there are 5 different hides available including the only revolving eagle photography hide i have ever seen, built to take into account the changing light during the day in the mountains.
Day 5 this last day full day in the hides before we head to a 4-star Hotel near Madrid airport to check in before dinner at the hotel.
Day 6 is time to fly home.
The target species on these trips is the Golden and Imperial Eagles, so far we have never failed to get hundreds if not thousands of images of both on each trip, if this is the case we will use the Griffon and Vulture hides on the last day, it is quite common to have both species of Vultures visit the Eagles hides at least until the Eagles arrive.
